Filmmaker Everett Lewis (a USC Film Studies professor, director of: Luster, FAQs, Skin & Bone, Lucky Bastard and Pretty Boys) returns to QFest with this ambitious drama set in the war-torn Middle East. Acting as a travel photographer, handsome young Price (Bryce Blais, Is It Just Me?, The Petty Boys) travels to Jordan, near the dangerous board with Iraq, in search of his Marine Captain boy friend who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. But the young man gets more than he bargained for as danger and intrigue lurk in all directions. There is Combs (Dale Dymkoski), a creepy and duplicitous CIA agent; Marwan (Khaled Haider); his strangely friendly tour guide; and a variety of homophobic military nationals. In short time, Price grows from a naïve American to a coldly calculating man who will do anything to find the man he loves. With stunning cinematography of the sun-burnt beauty of the villages, desert and historic ruins, this taut thriller features a very attractive cast and a story that will have you guessing until the end.
Caution ... total turkey! Starting with an interesting scenario, this pseudo thriller-war film quickly turns ridiculous : approximate acting, muffed action scenes, etc ... and into some kind of sentimental-erotic movie. All the men that the young American will meet, the mercenary, the Arabs, seem to want just one thing: his ass. Which is for sure very attractive.
Just don't forget this movie is low budget and filmed in arabic country with gay content ... Watch it for the easy on the eye boys, and beautiful landscapes.
